  • Applications open Tuesday 13 October 2026
  • Applications close 6pm Friday 5 February 2027

Cut-off scores for the 2028 intake are published when Round 1 offers go out and updated after Round 2. Several dates are still marked "to be confirmed", and the Department says the dates may change, so check the official page before each deadline.

What we suggest doing now

  1. Apply early. Applications run to 5 February, but there is nothing to gain by waiting, and late applications are only considered in exceptional circumstances. Our step-by-step guide to applying walks through the process.
  2. Book a parent information evening. The Department runs free sessions at schools across the state from 14 October. See all the dates and schools.
  3. Put 6 March 2027 in the calendar, and plan family commitments around that weekend.
  4. Plan the preparation. From mid-October there are about 20 weeks until the test. That is enough time for steady, structured practice across all four sections without cramming.
